Overview

The Cattle Drive will take place entirely on a 5,300 acre ranch on the East side of Glacier National Park with Big Sky views like no other.
Guests are picked up at the airport on Sunday afternoon and shuttled to the cattle drive ranch, the shuttle is approximately a 3 hour drive. Guest will spend the week riding, gather and herding cattle as well as some branding, inoculating, and castrating of the calves, There will be amazing trail rides on some of the day that we don’t move cattle, with the beauty of the majestic Glacier mountains in the background.
Guest will stay at the basecamp each night and after a dinner will enjoy sitting around the campfire with a drink in hand getting to know their fellow riders. There are also some activities available like skeet shooting, archery, and hatchet throwing.
By the end of the week, guests will feel connected to each other, ranch hosts Chuck and Cary DeBoo, the Bar W staff, their horses, and all the wonderful nature the area has to offer.
We will return you to the Kalispell airport on Saturday morning. From there guests can either fly home or book the following week at the Bar W in Whitefish.

Accommodations

The ranch provides tents, cots, sleeping bags, and pillows. There is a shared bath house with a shower for everyone to use.

Meals & Drinks

Bar W sends one of their cooks to each cattle drive. All meals are home cooked on-site.

Ride & Horse Information

Riding Ability: Intermediate

Horse Breeds: Quarter Horses, Appaloosas, Paints, Draft Crosses.

Trip Pace: The riding pace most of the time is going to be a lot of walking and trotting. We will do some loping as well, but often little to no galloping due to the length of time in the saddle and the difficult footing.

Tack: Western Saddles and Tack.

Weight Limit: 225 lbs
